Lumecca is an intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment that helps diminish the results of years in the sun. For aesthetic purposes, it helps improve skin tone and decrease hyperpigmentation (dark spots) caused by sun and aging, rosacea and even acne. The Lumecca treatment sends beams of light into your skin tissue, which breaks up the discolored areas of your face by constricting facial veins close to the surface of your skin.

You can use it everywhere on the body to achieve a clear complexion. The most common places are the: face, neck, décolletage, and hands as these areas are often exposed to the sun. However, arms, legs, shoulders, bald heads, and backs are becoming quite popular requested areas to be treated as people are looking to tackle sun damaged skin.

Avoid direct, excessive sun exposure or tanning one month prior to treatment. Liberally apply sunscreen daily post treatment.

*Some clients may need annual touch ups if stubborn spots start to reemerge after sun exposure or new capillaries come to the surface over time.

Yes! Not only will the Lumecca IPL help with acne discoloration, but it also kills surface bacteria and decreases pore size helping to minimize trapping of oil.

During treatment, there will be a bright flash of light from the Lumecca that feels like a light elastic sensation. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subsides within an hour. Over the next 48 hours you may see a darkening of pigmented spots; in the week afterward the pigmented lesions flake off, leading to an evening out of skin tone. Rosacea and red hues on the skin will lighten and disappear within the first week. Acneic clients can see a reduction within the first few treatments but results may vary.

Most patients do not experience any side effects and any skin reaction usually resolves within a few hours. Patients may find they are sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment. It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and tanning.
