The Laguna Wellness Stack: How GLP-1 and Peptides Work Together
I get some version of this question almost every week now.
“Crystal, I’m already on a GLP-1, but I keep hearing about all these other peptides. Should I be taking those, too?”
It’s a fair question. Especially if you’re in your 40s or 50s and navigating perimenopause or menopause, you may be noticing that weight, energy, muscle, and recovery have all started to change.
Here’s the thing: GLP-1 medications are peptides too. But they’re designed to address a specific part of your wellness journey, and other peptides work through different pathways. For some people, a GLP-1 may be all they need. For others, adding another peptide may complement their existing treatment by supporting goals like maintaining muscle, improving recovery, or supporting energy and healthy aging.
The question isn’t, “What else should I take?” It’s, “Is there something that could complement what I’m already doing and make sense for my individual goals?”
I’ve been in this industry for over a decade, since opening Laguna in 2013, and the conversation around GLP-1s and peptide therapy has completely changed in recent years. I also know how easy it is to go down the rabbit hole online. There are peptides being sold everywhere right now, including by sellers who may not be transparent about where their products come from or what’s actually in them.
That’s why I don’t believe in navigating this alone or ordering something online and hoping for the best. At Laguna, we work closely with our Medical Director to ensure every wellness plan is medically guided, thoughtfully considered, and centered around your safety.
So, if you’re already on a GLP-1 and wondering whether other peptides could complement your wellness goals, let me walk you through how I think about it.
GLP-1 Is the Foundation, Not the Whole House
When someone comes in for our medical weight loss program, GLP-1 is doing the heavy lifting on appetite.
It’s mimicking a hormone your gut already makes, the one that tells your brain “okay, you’re full, put the fork down.” That’s why cravings quiet down and portions naturally shrink without someone white-knuckling their way through dinner.
But here’s what I’ve noticed after watching patients go through this: GLP-1 handles the eating side of the equation really well. It doesn’t do much for your energy, your sleep, how fast you recover from a workout, or what happens to your skin as the weight comes off.
That’s not a flaw in the medication. It’s just not what it’s built for.
That’s where the rest of the stack comes in.
Layering In What GLP-1 Doesn’t Cover
A few of the combinations I see work well together, based on what I’m hearing from clients, what I’ve tried and what I’ve read in the clinical literature:
- Metabolic support – MOTs-C
- Muscle and recovery – CJC-1295, Ipamorelin, and Sermorelin (our Lean & Restore combination)
- Tissue repair – BPC-157 and Thymosin Beta-4
Here’s how I think about each one.
Metabolic support.
MOTs-C is a mitochondrial peptide, meaning it works at the level of your cells’ energy factories rather than your appetite. Clients on a weight loss journey who add this in often tell me they feel less wiped out in the afternoons.
That matters a lot when you’re also eating less overall.
I actually take this one myself, twice a week, and it’s made a real difference for me in the gym and just in day-to-day energy. I’m in my mid-40s heading into perimenopause, so anything that helps me keep my energy up while I’m optimizing everything else matters a lot to me personally.
Muscle and recovery.
This is the one people forget about. When you lose weight quickly, you don’t just lose fat. You can lose lean muscle too if you’re not careful.
Our Lean & Restore combination (CJC-1295, Ipamorelin, and Sermorelin) supports the body’s natural growth hormone pathways, which plays into muscle tone, sleep quality, and recovery.
I’ve had clients tell me their sleep improved before they even noticed changes on the scale.
This is actually part of my own nightly routine too. I take CJC-1295 with Ipamorelin before bed to help maintain the muscle I’m working hard for in the gym. It’s a small habit that’s made a bigger difference than I expected.
Tissue repair.
If someone is combining their weight loss program with body contouring or skin tightening treatments, which happens a lot as people lose significant weight and want their skin to keep up, BPC-157 and Thymosin Beta-4 support the body’s natural repair processes.
It’s not magic. But it’s a smart complement to what’s already happening.
Why I Don’t Just Hand Everyone the Same Stack
I want to be honest about something. Not every client needs every peptide, and I’d be doing you a disservice if I acted like more is always better.
Someone who’s sleeping great, feels energized, and is losing weight steadily on GLP-1 alone might not need anything added on top.
Someone else who’s plateaued, feels foggy, or is worried about muscle loss might genuinely benefit from layering in one or two additional peptides.
This is exactly why every program here starts with a real consultation, not a menu you check boxes on. I want to know your history, what you’ve tried before, what your actual goals are (weight on the scale is not always the goal, by the way), and how your body has responded to things in the past.
Then we build from there.
What This Actually Looks Like Week to Week
Most of my patients start with GLP-1 alone for the first month or so, just to see how their body responds. Once we have a baseline, that’s when we talk about whether adding a peptide makes sense.
It’s never “let’s throw everything at this at once.” It’s more like tuning an instrument. You adjust one string, listen, then adjust the next.
Reaching your goal weight isn’t really the finish line either, and I tell people this constantly.
What happens after matters just as much. That’s usually when the recovery and metabolic peptides earn their keep, because you’re shifting from “losing weight” to “keeping the results and feeling good in the body you’ve built.”

My Honest Take
If you’re on GLP-1 right now and feeling great, there’s no rule that says you need to add anything.
But if you’re the person who’s losing weight and still dragging by 3pm, or worried about how your skin looks as the pounds come off, or just wants to make sure you’re not losing muscle along with fat, that’s usually when I bring peptides into the conversation.
Come talk to me about it. I’d rather spend twenty minutes figuring out what your body actually needs than sell you a package that sounds impressive on paper but doesn’t fit your situation.
Individual results vary, and any weight loss or peptide program should be discussed with a qualified clinical team before starting. If you’re curious whether the Laguna stack makes sense for you, book a consultation and let’s talk it through.
